Abbie Allison , French Horn
Abbie Allison, a native of Richmond, Virginia and graduate of Shenandoah University, has been playing horn since she was ten years old. While in grade school, she participated in every honor band in the Richmond area, including Virginia Band & Orchestra Directors Association’s All-District Band, All-Virginia Band, and Senior Regional Orchestra. She also participated in the Greater Richmond Youth Wind Ensemble, the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Central Virginia Wind Symphony.
Allison attended Shenandoah University for instrumental performance, studying under retired U.S. “Pershing’s Own” Army Band principal horn, Joseph Lovinsky. In her four years at Shenandoah, she enjoyed performing with Shenandoah Conservatory’s Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Pit Orchestra, EDGE Ensemble, and various chamber ensembles. In August 2018, Allison moved to Pennsylvania to continue her studies at Penn State University with a Professional Performance Certificate under Lisa Bontrager.
An avid world traveler, Allison has attended the Aruba Symphony Festival in Oranjestad, Aruba and gone on tour with the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra to four cities in Argentina. Allison served as the stage manager for the 2018 session of the Aruba Symphony Festival and will be returning in 2019 as the orchestra manager.
