Pianist Kimberly Davis captures her audience’s imagination with her vibrant performances and attention to nuance and color. According to the critics, she demonstrates "insurmountable dedication and professionalism with sublime interpretations with great musicality and technical mastery."(El Vocero, Puerto Rico) She has performed throughout Puerto Rico, the United States, Cuba, and Ecuador.
Kimberly is especially interested in promoting the works of Latin American composers. She is currently an Associated Artist with Cayambis Music Press, one of the top publishers of Latin American music in the United States. Her album "La Ondina: Una Colección de Musica Puertorriquena para Piano" consists solely of works by Puerto Rican composers. Kimberly has also performed concerts of Latin American music for the Havana Festival of Contemporary Music in Havana, Cuba, at New Jersey City University, and throughout Puerto Rico at venues such as the Ateneo Puertorriqueno, the Interamerican University of Ponce, the University of Puerto Rico at Bayamon, and the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music. She has premiered works by composers such as William Ortiz, Alfonso Fuentes, Armando Luis Ramirez, and Jose Rafael Solis Corps. In 2015, she was a selected artist for Chicago Artists Month and performed a concert at the Harold Washington Library in Chicago.
In addition, Kimberly has toured Ecuador, where she gave recitals in the cities of Quito and Loja. In Loja, she also gave lectures and lead master classes for young pianists at the Anton Bruckner Conservatory and the Salvador Bustamante Celi Conservatory. Her stay in Loja is the subject of a documentary entitled “Partituras desde el Sur” (Scores from the South).
Beginning her studies at age four, Kimberly’s passion for music was evident even as a child. Her professional qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an Artist Diploma from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music , and a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from Kent State University. Her principal teachers have been Donna Lee, Joela Jones, Felix Rivera, Maria del Carmen Gil, William Heiles, Soyoung Kee, and Louise Krem. She has also worked with artists such as Pablo Ziegler, Scott McBride Smith, Jerry Wong, and Richard and John Contiguglia.
Kimberly has also released a solo piano album entitled “A Classical Garden,” featuring works by Debussy, Brahms, Haydn, and Prokofiev. It is available on iTunes and in other digital stores.
