Anthony Ortiz, Student Services & Admissions


Born in Guayama, Puerto Rico; Anthony Ortiz began his musical studies under the tutelage of Prof. Rubén Figueroa Vega and member of the School Marching and Concert Band in Guayama. As a member of this group, Anthony has participated in various activities in which the Concert Band has been recognized for its execution. In the 2004 is admitted to the Training Center of Fine Arts (CABA) and is part of Puerto Rico All State Youth Concert Band until 2007.

In 2008 he began his formal studies on clarinet with Prof. Cristina Rodriguez. In 2009 was admitted to the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music in the Instrumental Performance program. He began his studies with Dr. Oskar Espina Ruiz and throughout his studies has had the privilege of working with: Emmanuel Diaz, Genesio Riboldi and Kathleen Jones. As a member of the leading ensembles of the Music Conservatory such as, the Concert Band and Symphony Orchestra, Ortiz had the opportunity to participate in several significant concerts for the institution as, the opening of the "Teatro Bertita y Guillermo L. Martinez, Verdi's Requiem at the Teatro de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, the premiere of Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring"on its version for wind ensemble to name a few.  Also, he has performed in several masterclasses with several major artists including: David Carter, David Shiffrin, Ayako Oshima, Charles Neidich, Frank Morelli, Woodwind Quintet Mexico City, Heiner Schindler among others.

As a clarinetist, he has collaborated with ensembles such as Camerata Filarmonica Orquesta Sinfónica de San Juan, Philarmonia Symphony Orchestra, Porta del Sol Wind Ensemble, San Juan Bautista Sinfonietta among others. In 2013 he appears as soloist with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra in an educational concert entitled: Rossini and his Orchestral Kitchen. It has been part of several chamber ensembles including Aura Winds Quintet and the San Juan Clarinet Collective in collaboration with the virtuoso clarinet teacher, Genesio Riboldi. He has taught several educational projects and some of his students have been admitted to prestigious institutions such as the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and the Escuela Libre de Música of San Juan.
