Juan Soto, Chamber Music Cordinator

Clarinetist Juan Soto began his musical studies at the age of ten in the Escuela Libre de Música in Caguas with Professor Rafael Bracero who was a former member of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra as second clarinet player.

In 2010, he won an audition to play with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra in the program "Experiencia Sinfónica", where he had the opportunity to play for three consecutive years. He also participated in the program Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil in 2012.

In 2012, he was accepted into the Clarinet Performance Program at Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music under the tutelageof Kathleen Jones (principal clarinetist of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra).

In 2014, Juan participated as a bass clarinet player at the "International Clarinet Fest" celebrated in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he performed with the Conservatory's Clarinet Choir. He also performed in the musical "The Man of La Mancha" in "Paseo de las Artes" Caguas, Puerto Rico as a bass clarinet player. In 2014-2015, he performed in two musicals in collaboration with the San Juan Children Choir" in which was presented on international television.

In 2016, he got accepted in Nuevo Mundo Festival and Academy where he took lessons with the famous clarinetist Jorge Montilla who is consider one of the best E- flat clarinet players in the world. In Aruba he had the opportunity to play as principal clarinetist with the Aruba Symphony Orchestra, playing with members of the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra.

Juan Soto is an active member of the Municipal Band in the town of Caguas where he work's since he was twelve years old as a professor clarinetist.

Juan has taken masterclass and private lessons with Kathleen Jones, Genesio Riboldi, Julia Heinen, Eli Eban, Jorge Montilla, William R. Hudgins, Paquito D' Rivera, Ricardo Morales, and others.
